DANDY LITTLE WORMS
Here at the farm, we've got worms... and it's something we're really happy about.
We've started vermicomposting, using red wriggler worms to create worm castings from our compost. Worm castings are a valuable addition to your soil amendments.
We've got a pound wriggling happily away in their bin, and as they multiply, we'll be selling the worm castings as well as worms in the future.
You could have your own vermicomposting bin. They are great for apartments, houses, farms, whereever you have compost to be rid of.
Feel free to message us for more information on verimcomposting and how you can start your own bin.
PLANTS & VEGETABLES
Aside from apples, we'll be growing every vegetable we can think of and bringing you fresh and local vegetables and herbs.
Watch for us at the
Amherst Farmers' Market.
We've bought our little homestead, just outside of River Hebert, Nova Scotia. We're slowly setting up to bring you pasture-fed sheep for meat and Muscovy ducks for meat and eggs. We'll be putting together our first batches of cider with this year's apple harvest. Long term plans include a commercial kitchen/restaurant and a bed and breakfast.
LIONS & TIGERS & BEARS! OH MY!!!
There probably won't be lions or tigers on the farm, but we are looking forward to raising sheep and ducks.
We'll be producing meat, eggs, cheese, sausages, cured meats and the list goes on and on.
We may still add other animals, but for now we have chosen to focus on these two additions to the farm.
